Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or otherwise using Litworking, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2. Description of service

Litworking is a research workspace that lets you organize papers, notes, claims, evidence and citations on a visual canvas, evaluate sources, plan writing, and build arguments. Features vary by plan, and some capabilities (such as billing or hosted file storage) are only available when a deployment has them configured — the app will say so plainly rather than pretending they work.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your credentials secure. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

When using Litworking, you agree not to:

• Upload content you don't have the right to upload, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
• Attempt to access another user's projects, papers or account without authorization.
• Interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to circumvent plan limits or security controls.
• Use the service to store or distribute unlawful content.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of everything you create or upload — projects, canvases, papers, notes, claims, evidence and citations. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, process and display that content back to you (and to collaborators you invite) in order to operate the service. We don't claim ownership of your research.

6. Subscriptions & billing

The Free plan requires no payment. Plus and Pro are paid subscriptions billed monthly. Where a deployment has payment processing configured, subscribing authorizes recurring charges until you cancel; you can cancel any time from Settings → Subscription, effective at the end of the current billing period.

Where a deployment does not have payment processing configured, paid-plan checkout is unavailable and the app will say so rather than simulate a purchase.

7. Intellectual property

The Litworking name, logo, and the software itself are owned by us (or our licensors) and are not covered by the license you grant us to your content in Section 5. Nothing here transfers ownership of our software or brand to you.

8. Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.

9. Evaluation & disclaimers

Source evaluation scores, evaluation criteria and any research-organization tools in Litworking are assistive and entirely user-controlled. They are provided to help you apply your own academic judgment — they do not determine objective truth, verify factual accuracy, or substitute for your own critical evaluation of a source.

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Litworking and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date below and, where appropriate, communicated by email before they take effect.
